A non-present grandmother, the school teacher and principle, the social system.\u00a0The film was released on April 7, 2017, by\u00a0Fox Searchlight Pictures<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The story gives us lots to laugh about with the wittiness of gifted Mary. It also triggers the weight of being care takers, the responsibility we fold in our hands as we care for another human being. A human being that is a social citizen.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The movie is based in the USA, from where the changes of Polish foster care system derive from. And it does not exclude the disassociation of the child emotions and relationships. Showing the absence of the child in the decision making process, while prioritizing external expectations.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And what’s interesting is that the Polish film title\u00a0 changes somewhat the perception of the story. The English title “gifted” is neutral and gives no specification on the quantity of people it refers to. The Polish title refers to multiple. And maybe we can see the discrepancy here, that it is no longer about Mary, the gifted. But actually her gift influences others. So it refers to all those involved and their opinion of what is good for her.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frank samotnie wychowuje swoj\u0105 niezwykle obdarowana siostrzenica po \u015bmierci jej genialnej matki, siostry. Zmaganie si\u0119 z tym, czego potrzebuje Maryja, jego siostrzenica, w oparciu o jego intuicyjny werset, to, czego si\u0119 oczekuje. Oczekiwania przychodz\u0105ce ze wszystkich stron. Nieobecna babcia, nauczycielka szkolna i zasada, system spo\u0142eczny. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Historia daje nam wiele powod\u00f3w do \u015bmiechu z dowcip\u00f3w obdarowanej Mary. Wywo\u0142uje te\u017c ci\u0119\u017car bycia opiekunami, odpowiedzialno\u015b\u0107, kt\u00f3r\u0105 sk\u0142adamy na r\u0119ce, gdy troszczymy si\u0119 o drugiego cz\u0142owieka. Cz\u0142owiek, kt\u00f3ry jest obywatelem spo\u0142ecznym.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Film toczy sie w USA, sk\u0105d bior\u0105 si\u0119 zmiany w polskim systemie opieki zast\u0119pczej. I nie wyklucza to dysocjacji dzieci\u0119cych emocji i zwi\u0105zk\u00f3w w swoich decyzjach. Ukazanie nieobecno\u015bci dziecka w procesie podejmowania decyzji, przy jednoczesnym nadaniu priorytetu oczekiwaniom zewn\u0119trznym.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A co ciekawe, tytu\u0142 filmu w jezyku polskim zmienia nieco spos\u00f3b postrzegania tej historii. O ile angielski tytu\u0142 “gifted” jest neutralny i nie okre\u015bla ilo\u015bci os\u00f3b, do kt\u00f3rych si\u0119 odnosi – jednej lub wielu. Polski tytu\u0142 odnosi si\u0119 do wielu os\u00f3b – “obdarowani”. I by\u0107 mo\u017ce widzimy tu rozbie\u017cno\u015b\u0107, \u017ce nie chodzi ju\u017c tylko Mary, ta obdarowana. Ale tak naprawd\u0119 jej dar wp\u0142ywa na innych, a wi\u0119c odnosi si\u0119 do wszystkich zaanga\u017cowanych os\u00f3b i ich opinii o tym, co jest dla niej dobre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
