The book the Girl behind the Curtain, was written by Stella Veritas-Amare in Warsaw w 2020 and published by Wydawnictwo eneteia<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The Girl Behind the Curtain” is the first volume in the “Girl” series. It covers the author’s memoirs from conception to the age of seven. It is a record of the stream of consciousness that the author created for the purpose of self-therapy. Stella not only revisits the events from the most important period of her life, but also tries to reincarnate herself. To become anew the child she once was and to feel herself and the world around her anew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“A tiny falling star that no one saw in time. Unseen, unwanted, unnoticed. Why did it appear? Is it capable of shining?” (p. 16)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even before Stella was born, her parents divorced, her mother and her older son leaving her abusive alcoholic husband. Could these events have seeped into the safety of fetal life and made a lasting mark on Stella?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Stella was two years old her mother again had to make a difficult decision. The girl was not accepted to the kindergarten and in order not to lose her job, the woman gave the girl to her mother. Stella spent nine months with her grandmother. A caring and loving grandmother, but only a grandmother, not a mother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is very easy to objectify a child. To reduce to a small not fully developed being, not understanding or having deeper feelings. It is easy to rationalize this. After all, the child is emotionally immature, so why should we explain it to it anyway, it is too difficult for it. Besides, it is all for the child’s own good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A child sees, hears and, above all, feels everything. Even if it does not understand. All experiences are conscientiously deposited, for scientists in the subconscious, for poets at the bottom of the soul. And they wait. Sooner or later they will make themselves known. As nightmares. As an excessive need for control. As aggression. As low self-esteem. And so on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Stella, the trauma of abandonment and rejection has acted as a pebble that triggers an avalanche. With each passing year there are more problems, more fears, more guilt and feelings of inferiority and worthlessness. The girl hides behind a veil, this is her defense mechanism. She slowly loses herself in favor of becoming conforming to the expectations of others. To not feel, to not think, to obey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This book allows adults to peek behind the curtain, to see what children are hiding from them, what they are ashamed of, what they are afraid of, and what they blame. What they want to hide so that they don’t come off as weaklings unworthy of love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeszcze przed narodzinami Stelli jej rodzice si\u0119 rozwiedli, matka razem ze starszym synem odesz\u0142a od agresywnego m\u0119\u017ca alkoholika. Gdy Stella mia\u0142a dwa lata jej matka ponownie musia\u0142a podj\u0105\u0107 trudn\u0105 decyzj\u0119. Dziewczynki nie przyj\u0119to do przedszkola i \u017ceby nie straci\u0107 bo pracy, kobieta odda\u0142a dziewczynk\u0119 pod opiek\u0119 swojej matce. Stella sp\u0119dzi\u0142a u babci dziewi\u0119\u0107 miesi\u0119cy. U troskliwej i kochaj\u0105cej babci, jednak tylko babci, nie mamy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bardzo \u0142atwo uprzedmiotowi\u0107 dziecko. Zredukowa\u0107 do ma\u0142ej nie w pe\u0142ni rozwini\u0119tej istoty, nie rozumiej\u0105cej i nie posiadaj\u0105cej g\u0142\u0119bszych uczu\u0107. \u0141atwo to zracjonalizowa\u0107. Przecie\u017c dziecko jest niedojrza\u0142e emocjonalnie, po co t\u0142umaczy\u0107 i tak to dla niego za trudne. A poza tym to wszystko dla jego dobra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dziecko wszystko widzi, s\u0142yszy i przede wszystkim czuje. Nawet je\u015bli nie rozumie. Wszystkie do\u015bwiadczenia sumiennie odk\u0142adaj\u0105 si\u0119, dla naukowc\u00f3w w pod\u015bwiadomo\u015bci, dla poet\u00f3w na dnie duszy. I czekaj\u0105. Pr\u0119dzej czy p\u00f3\u017aniej dadz\u0105 o sobie zna\u0107. Jako koszmary – nadmierna potrzeba kontroli. Czy jako agresja. Jako niskie poczucie w\u0142asnej warto\u015bci. I tak dalej.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

W Stelli trauma porzucenia i odrzucenia zadzia\u0142a\u0142a jak kamyczek, kt\u00f3ry wywo\u0142uje lawin\u0119. Z ka\u017cdym kolejnym rokiem \u017cycia problem\u00f3w jest wi\u0119cej, wi\u0119cej l\u0119k\u00f3w oraz poczucia winy i odczucia bycia kim\u015b gorszym, niewarto\u015bciowym.
